SOLAR THERMAL HEAT INCENTIVES
Renewable Heat Incentives are payments made by the Government for heat generated by a Renewable Energy system.
- £300 RHI Premium Payment grant from 1st August 2011.
- Premium Payment must be claimed by 31st March 2012.
- Renewable Heat Incentives available from October 2012.
- Payments for units of heat generated for 20 years.
- Around 8% return on your investment.
RHI PREMIUM PAYMENT
A Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) Premium Payment of £300 is available to domestic customers from 1st August 2011 until 31st March 2012. This grant is intended to bridge the gap until the full RHI is launched in October 2012. £15M grant funding is available to support 25,000 installations.- Available from 1st August 2011.

HEAT INCENTIVES
From October 2012, Renewable Heat Incentive payments will be made for every unit of heat generated by Solar Thermal Panels for 20 years after installation. These payments are expected to be 18p per kWh which equates to approx. £250 per year, plus around £50 per year savings on hot water bills.- RHIs due to start in Oct 2012.

RENEWABLE HEAT INCENTIVE (RHI) CRITERIA
Full details of the scheme have not yet been released ahead of the October 2012 launch. However, it is highly likely that RHIs will only be available to homeowners in England, Scotland and Wales. Loft and Cavity Wall Insulation should also be installed, if the property is suitable.
The Solar Thermal Hot Water system must also be installed by approved installers using equipment that is approved for the scheme. It may also be necessary to provide regular feedback on the performance of the system and have monitoring equipment fitted.
